Stolen from SEB, not sure if it is accurate or note… For one thing, I’d consider myself more of a Militant Atheist than a Scientific one.. also.. where did that 25% Theist bit come from??

Ahh well online Quizzies can’t be all THAT perfect ;)

You scored as Scientific Atheist, These guys rule. I’m not one of them myself, although I play one online. They know the rules of debate, the Laws of Thermodynamics, and can explain evolution in fifty words or less. More concerned with how things ARE than how they should be, these are the people who will bring us into the future.

Stolen from kelley (who apparently stole it from phil, NOT Aielman)

Do you believe in a higher authority/power?
No. Absolutely not. In fact, I do believe that anyone who does is mildly crazy.

If so, are you an member in one of the many organized religions?
Ahh.. no.

If so, do you practice regularly?

If so, which organized religion are you a member of?

Do you believe in relative morality (moral relativism) or absolute morality (moral absolutism)?
Hell, I don’t know, I thought I was a moral relativist, but I’m not sure I match the definition… So let me just try explain. I think morals are relative the the place/situation the observer is in. Many of us would like to believe we are very moral, that we would not steal, murder, etc. But if we were put in a situation where our only option was to kill or be killed, to steal in order to survive, would that make us immoral? I don’t believe so.. I just think that in that situation, the moral bar is moved. Now, if in that same position one murdered/stole/etc for profit, etc, that would be immoral.

What country do you live in?
Canada

Should religion and government be kept separate?
Absolutely. As long as there are people of different religious views being governed by the same body, religion has not place in politics. The purpose of politics to allow the people to come to a consensus on what the rules governing the populous should be. There are too many different views in religion, there are liberals/moderates, centrists, right-wings, conservatives, and fundamentalists (read: wack-jobs). Who of these religions views gets to make the rules? When an individual votes, they should vote for whomever they believe best represents their interests. But at no time should a political figure use God, Allah, etc, to garner support. They should not invoke their religious doctrine in making/passing laws. The only thing they should be doing is what their constituents want them to. If they are following their religious gut, they may not be following their voters.

What is your position on evolution?
It’s fact… It may not be figured out 100%, but we have enough evidence to know we are well on the right track. Sure, there are still things we don’t know completely, but for anyone to say we are all created by a magical fairy in the sky is absolutely absurd.

Are you in favor of abortion (voluntary termination up to 22 weeks, 24 with medical referral)?
It’s a woman’s choice. It’s HER body, it’s HER life. End of discussion.

Should the state be allowed to discriminate based on gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, other?
Never.

Do you believe intelligent design should be taught in schools?
Only as a foot note in history/political science/sociology/religious studies class as an example of what happens when idiots are allowed into office.

Do you believe civic or military service should be required?
Yes & no. There are benefits to both. A 2 year term before college would do a lot of good, now it would not have to be military service, it could be civic service, etc. After that time, your college is paid for as long as you maintain a 75% average. If you don’t wish to participate, pay for your own college, no government student loans. At the same time, this would open up a two-class system. Those who could afford to pay for college on their own would be able to skip this service, while the poor/middle class would have little choice. Hrm.. maybe mandatory is better.. levels the playing field.

Do you support the death penalty?
Yes. For those who CANNOT be rehabilitated, why waste our time & money.

Do you support the legalization of marijuana?
Yes. Alcohol is legal, tobacco (which is MUCH worse & has no medical benefits) is legal. Legalize it & tax it, place similar laws around it as are around alcohol.

Do you support affirmative action?
No. I think the best person for a job should get it. At the same time I think the government should ASSURE that all citizens get the same level of education, social assistance, etc.

Do you support euthanasia?
Yes. You suffer with a debilitating disease and have no out, think then how you would answer. It’s MY life, not yours.. Knowing there is no hope, knowing you will likely suffer in great pain for the next 6 months, 2 years, 10 years, etc…

Do you support cloning?
Yes & no. I support cloning for the purposes of medial research/cloning individual parts for transplant, etc. I have no issue with animal cloning as long as it is done ethically, for good reason. I do not support the cloning if whole humans for any purpose.

Do you support embryonic stem cell research?
Yes.

Do you believe in global warming?
Yes. Anyone who thinks it is a hoax is a fucking idiot.

Do you support gun control?
Yes. No civilian should have a gun. You want to target shoot, go to the range & sign one out. You want to hunt? sign one out, you can sign it out for a maximum of n days (where n is a number determined by the trip length, your previous record, etc). The military & police are the only peoples needing guns. I don’t give a flying rats ass what your piece of paper says about your right to bare arms. it was written a LONG time ago in a different world. Get over it.

Do you support nationalized health care?
Yes, our system in Canada is flawed, under financed & understaffed. But if it was properly funded & staffed (and managed) it would work very well. It is socially wrong if some people can afford health care & others cannot.

Do you support wall building to discourage illegal immigration?
Anyone who thinks a wall is going to solve their problem is an idiot. People travel in overcrowded boats through storms some times hundreds of miles with little food & water to get to a land they believe will be safe… hell to lands that they know might not be the best, but where at least they are not in constant fear of death or mutilation, rape, etc. Yo think a stupid wall will work?

Do you support term limits?
Yes. otherwise you have a change of dictators/dynasties…

Do you support campaign finance limits?
Public forum should be provided by the media. Other than that, candidates should not be allowed to pay for advertising of any kind. At that point it becomes about the message, and your connection with the voters, not about how pretty your ads are, how many of them you have posted & how much you can spend to get them out there.
Do you support welfare?
Yes, but it should be CLOSELY monitored, anyone found to be abusing it should be held legally and financially responsible.

Where do you consider yourself on the political spectrum typically (Left, Centrist, Right)?
Left… Not tree-hugger, anarchist left.. but closer to that than the center.
